Rusty Kinkead

McALESTER — Rusty Kinkead, 90, of McAlester, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Aug. 17, 1923, in McAlester, he was the son of Jesse James Kinkead and Francis Moss Kinkead. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1941.

He entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1944 as a bombardier on the B24 and was active in the European Theatre. After he received his honorable discharge, he continued to fly as a private pilot for many years.

He married Mosella Watts in 1946 in McAlester. He was the manager for Watts Oil Company for 50 years.

He served as a director at The Bank NA.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the McAlester County Club for numerous years. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling. They were proud of visiting every state in the United States, most of them while driving.

Survivors include daughters, Sue Lovan and husband, Dick, of Auburn, Calif., Karla Elizarde and husband, Ruben, of McAlester, and Janet Brown and husband, Fowler, of Llano, Texas; six grandchildren, Lisa Ruggiero, Todd Dickason, David Dickason, Jesse Elizarde, Jordan Elizarde and Veronica Kuykendall, and 11 great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Fannie Kinkead; his wife, Mosella Kinkead; brothers, Alfred, Walter, LeRoy and Ewell Kinkead, and sisters, Leva Harkins, Mary Snell, Laura Hanoute and Cora Elliston.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
