McALESTER — Charles E. Johnson, 73, of Bache, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Davis officiating. Burial will be at Bache Red Oak Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Feb. 5, 1940, in Gowen, he was the son of Jake and Dora (Bennett) Johnson. He graduated from Wilburton High School before entering the United States Navy in 1959. He served his country for four years until he earned his honorable discharge.

He married Joyce Lee Rosso on July 27, 1959, in Texas. He worked for more than 25 years as the office manager for Watts Oil Company.

He also established 4-J Ranch where he worked countless hours improving the land and working cattle.

He was a member of American Legion, Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He attended High Hill Baptist Church and was a 32 degree mason.

He also enjoyed the time he spent with the coffee drinkers at the Gorilla Store in Krebs, but his greatest love was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Johnson, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Selina Riley and husband, Don, of Bache; three grandchildren, Lindy Ranallo and husband, Keith, of McAlester, Kyle Johnson, of Tulsa, and Michael Riley and wife, Ashley, of Bache; two great-grandsons, Noah Ranallo and Tristin Riley.

Also, sisters and brothers, Mary Moore, of Midwest City, Rosa Wilson, of Texas, Myrtle Beth Freeman, of Arkansas, Violet Freeman, of Arkansas, James Johnson, of Gowen, Helen Anderson, of Haileyville, Jerry Johnson, of Wilburton, and Linda Hemry, of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, John Rosso and wife, Pat, of Stigler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Dora Johnson; son, Douglas Johnson; granddaughter, Marisa Johnson, and a sister, Eva Scott.

Pallbearers will be Don Riley, Michael Riley, Kyle Johnson and Keith Ranallo.
