McALESTER —  “Juanita” Leadford, 92, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, in Rockwall, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel with Dr. Tim Russell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Aug. 1, 1921, in North McAlester, she was the daughter of Oscar Latham Tate and Ella (Freeman) Tate. 

She loved her home and spending time with her family. She was known as “Granny” to her great-grandchildren. 

Survivors include her daughter, Nita Walker and husband, Glen, Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren, Brian Walker and wife, Paula, Murphy, Texas and Alice Phillips and husband, Monty, Fort Worth, Texas.

Also, great-grandchildren, Ben and Annie Phillips and Jacob, Sam and Ella Walker, and sister-in-law, Helen Russell and husband, Olen, of McAlester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edd “Monroe” Leadford; daughter, Eddie Alice Collier; son-in-law, Ronnie Joe Collier; grandson, Ronnie Joe Collier Jr.; two brothers, Sherman Latham and Roy Lee Tate, and mother-in-law, Lillie Johnson.
