H.B. Bickle Jr.

McALESTER — H.B. Bickle Jr., 81, of Krebs, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at his home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with full military honors. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Oct. 15, 1931, in Wetumka, he was the son of Henry Bergwine and Otia Mae Kennedy Bickle.

He graduated from high school and entered the United States Army on Oct. 10, 1949. During his service he served post World War II and two tours during the Korean War. He earned numerous metads including the Purple Heart. He received his honorable discharge on Dec. 31, 1964.

After receiving his discharge, he opened a grocery store in Red Oak, later sold insurance and worked for a construction company in Kansas before moving to the McAlester area.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at the VFW, fishing and golfing.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Bickle and wife, Suzanne, of Owasso, and Craig Bickle and wife, Pam, of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Cameron and Chase Bickle, and Brandon, Ashley and Josh Bickle.

Also, two great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Madison Bickle; two sisters, Ruth Witt, of Nacoma Park, and Julie Bea Lester, of Tulsa, and a sister-in-law, Lucille Bickle, of McAlester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack Bickle, of McAlester, and three sisters, Eltia Powell, of Oklahoma City, Ella Mae Bristow, of Sawyer and Leona Burris, of McAlester.
