McALESTER — Betty Dean Crandell, 74, of Savanna, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, in Fort Gibson.
Funeral services will be at 2 today at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Cindy Culver officiating. Burial will be at Savanna Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born Sept. 12, 1939, in Clarksdale, Miss., she was the daughter of William and Allie Mae (Gardner) Winters. She moved to Scipio as a young woman.
She married Billy Gerald Crandell Sr. on Feb. 24, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas. They moved to Savanna and lived there for more than 50 years.
She worked as a cook for Champlin Truck Stop in Savanna and also as an inspector for Komar Manufacturing.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Savanna.
Survivors include a son, Billy Gearld Crandell Jr., of Checotah; a daughter, Tresea Michael and husband, Danny, of Checotah; grandchildren, Ciera Freeman and husband, William, of Muskogee, and Christina Crandell, of South Carolina.
Also, great-grandchildren, Ely Freeman, of Muskogee, and Miranda Crandell, of South Carolina; sister, Mary Ruth Beatty, West Memphis, Ark., and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Crandell Sr.; parents, William and Allie Winters; sons, Kenny Crandell and Ronald Crandell; brothers, Bill Winters, Virgil Winters and L.J. Winters, and sisters, Margaret Morris, Dorothy Fowler and Pauline McGruder.
Pallbearers will be Danny Michael, William Freeman, Bradley Wells and Denver Freeman.
Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Crandell Jr.
