Kenneth Wayne Mordecai

Kenneth Wayne Mordecai, 64, of Wilburton, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in Tulsa

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Church of the Rock with the Rev. Sterlin Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wilburton. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton.

Born Aug. 27, 1943, in Henryetta, he was the son of Hulen and Glenna (Salle) Mordecai. He graduated from Henryetta High School and received his bachelor’s for industrial arts from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He taught industrial arts at Copan and Okmulgee high schools.

He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

He married Elaine Bentley on July 22, 2000, in Wilburton. He retired from CenterPoint Energy where he worked as a compressor mechanic for 27 years.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a member of the VFW, a perpetual Shriner member and district deputy of the Tulledega Lodge No. 201 of Henryetta.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skeet shooting. He also enjoyed auto racing and watching racing.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine, of the home; mother, Glenna Mordecai, of Henryetta; brother, David Mordecai and wife, Zeta, of Henryetta, and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hulen Mordecai.
