The hills of McAlester will ring with the sounds of Christmas as the choirs of McAlester High School and Puterbaugh Middle School present their annual Christmas concert for the city.

The concert will feature both traditional Christmas carols and some not so traditional such as Calypso Noel.

Featured in the concert will the Puterbaugh Middle School 50-voice concert choir.

They will open the concert with a medley of traditional carols as they stroll down the aisle of the auditorium, singing to the audience.

The MHS Women’s Choir will sing a medley of Christmas songs all in three-quarter time, such as “The Christmas Waltz” and “Silver Bells.”

To sweeten up the season, the MHS Concert Choir will cook up a traditional Christmas dessert with the song “Fruitcake.”

The concert will conclude with the massed choirs of both schools singing a rousing rendition of “Go, Tell It On The Mountain” blended with “African Noel.”

This annual musical gift to the city will be presented at S. Arch Auditorium at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. It is free and open to the public.

The choirs invites any that attend the concert to a reception immediately following the concert in the old MHS high school building across the street.
