Pittsburg County Emergency Management Director Trent Myers has been elected the southeast area vice president of the Oklahoma Emergency Management Association.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency announced Myers’ election in a press release issued this morning.

Myers is on vacation and could not be reached for comment. During his absence, Assistant Pittsburg County Emergency Management Director Lois Lupardus is handling the office and any emergency situations that might arise.

In a recent interview Myers said that’s one thing he felt he did that was far different than any of his predecessors in the Pittsburg County emergency management position.

“Before they always had a director and an assistant who was actually a secretary,” Myers said. “I feel that’s something that has made a big difference. Lois, my assistant, is a true assistant. We’ve gone through the same schools together, had the same training and sometimes go out on fires together.”

Myers will serve as the Southeast Oklahoma vice president for at least one year, after which he can be re-elected.
