Pittsburg County commissioners, in their role as trustees of the Pittsburg County Economic Development Authority, took action on several items pertaining to construction and renovation projects currently under way this week, including awarding a contract for window blinds for the Pittsburg County Courthouse, which is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation project.

Commissioners awarded the contract for window blinds, in an amount of $32,025, to McAlester-based Interior Resources.

However, in a separate item, they tabled awarding a contract for a mobile filing system for the county clerk’s office, which is also a project related to the courthouse renovation.

They also approved payment of approximately $6,092 for work done by Architects in Partnership, an architectural company that’s been working on the county animal shelter, that had never been billed.

Under two separate requisition certificates, commissioners approved more payments to Atlas General Contractors LLC, for more work completed on both the jail and courthouse projects, which together total more than $219,000.

Commissioners also approved Engineering Solutions LLC for payment of $2,975 for work done.

Funding to pay for the animal shelter, jail, and courthouse projects originated with monies raised from a voter-approved county sales tax.

In other action, commissioners re-elected Chairman Gene Rogers and Vice-Chairman Kevin Smith.
