McAlester novelist Sharon Ervin will be signing copies of her new book, “Aftermath,” Feb. 28.

Ervin said she’s been promoting her new romantic suspense novel at bookstores in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman and Dallas.

“Alas, with no bookstore here, I rely on the charity of friends like Bob Woolman who invited me to sign here at Taco Pronto, aka Taco Bob’s,” Ervin said. The signing is set at the restaurant, at 307 S. Main, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Aftermath” is about Anna Fulenweider, 24, a pushy newspaper reporter. The story begins six weeks after the fair, white freckled-faced beauty is released by an unknown kidnapper. Suddenly plagued by shakes and unrelenting depression, the once carefree Anna refuses to talk about her 53-hour ordeal to family, friends, or even the psychiatrist provided by her employer newspaper.

Ervin has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma. She is married to McAlester attorney Bill Ervin and has four grown children.

“Naturally, hometown buyers receive a price break,” she said. On “Aftermath,” for instance, a trade paperback, the cost will be $10, nearly a $5 discount. She said five other paperbacks will also be offered for $10. Two hardcover books will also be available for purchase.
