STUART — It was clear almost from the opening tip that the Stuart Hornets had the Porum Panthers out-matched in Saturday’s Area IV District 7 Final at Harold Lasiter Gymnasium in Stuart.
The Hornets were faster than the Panthers, and also longer. Stuart had edges in athleticism, creativity and versatility.
And oh yeah, just about every Hornet starter can knock down three-pointers.
Kaleb Wilson scored 27 points, and the Hornets knocked down 13 three-pointers in an 81-44 blowout against the Panthers.
Stuart earned its first district title since 2011, improving to 20-6. It will face the winner of Dewar-Moss in the regional semi-finals at Moss on Thursday at 8 p.m.
