Thompson’s Diggers trounce Miners

HARTSHORNE — At 6-foot-8 — or 6-foot-10, according to his mother — Wilburton senior Jesse Thompson towered over the Hartshorne Miners, creating a giant target in the paint.

The Miners tried to contain Thompson, but that just opened up the Diggers’ outside shooting.

Thompson scored 22 points, while teammate Jonathan Fite scored 15 on five three-pointers, powering the Diggers to a 66-42 win against the Miners on Tuesday at Taylor Gymnasium in Hartshorne.

Wilburton finished its season-series against Hartshorne 2-0. Both victories were by double-digits.
