Pittsburg splits home-tournament openers

PITTSBURG —

The Pittsburg Lady Panthers scored 23 points in the first quarter. The Calvin Lady Bulldogs scored none.

The game only went down-hill from there.

Pittsburg junior Chandler Billingsley scored 15 points, and Calvin never recovered from Pittsburg’s 26-0 game-opening run. Pittsburg won the first round of its Dee Foster Invitational tournament, 60-35, on Thursday.

Capping the boys’ first round, the Panthers played the Wilson Tigers. Wilson’s massive height advantage in Zack Medlock and Dustin Crabtree won out, as the Tigers’ superior play in the post helped them win, 48-42.
