Weekend Update: Savanna wins Tushka Fall Classic

McALESTER —

The Lady Panthers  lost 13-3 at Indianola on Sept. 3. They played Crowder on Tuesday.

QUINTON

After losing to Porum on Sept. 3, 10-0, Quinton finally snapped its five-game losing streak with a 9-2 win against Atoka at the Tushka Fall Classic on Friday. Quinton also lost to Coalgate at the Classic, 2-1, then lost to Panama on Monday, 14-6.

The Lady Savages went to Sallisaw for a three-way series with Porum on Tuesday and next play at Pocola on Thursday.

Quinton football opens its season Friday at Wilburton.

SAVANNA

The Savanna Lady Bulldogs went 5-0 Thursday and Saturday to win the Third Annual Tushka Fall Classic softball tournament. The wins improved Savanna, the second-ranked team in Class 2A, to 18-3.

Savanna opened its tournament by beating Prague 5-1 on Thursday, then beat Kingston 7-1 and Colbert 2-0 that same day to advance to Saturday’s semifinals. Savanna beat Tushka in the semifinals, 3-1, then beat Panama in the finals, 9-0.

The Lady Dawgs lost at Latta on Monday, 2-1, played at Henryetta on Tuesday and next play at the Shootout Festival at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City on Friday.

Savanna football next plays at Beggs JV on Thursday.

STUART

The Hornets will take a 14-6 record and the 10th spot in Class B into their home baseball tournament on Thursday. Stuart swept a baseball doubleheader against Pittsburg on Thursday, 14-0 and 9-7, then swept a three-way at Kiowa on Friday, 12-7 against Kiowa and 21-1 against Indianola.

Stuart beat Tupelo on Monday, 5-1, for their fifth win in a row and sixth in the last seven games.

The Lady Hornets went 1-2 at the Roff Tournament over the weekend. They lost to Davis on Thursday, 10-2, beat Tupelo on Friday, 8-7, and then lost to Silo on Saturday, 10-0.

Both Davis and Silo are at least two classes higher than Stuart, a Class B softball team. The Lady Hornets recovered to beat Crowder, another 2A team, on Monday, 12-2, and next play Thursday at Antlers.

WILBURTON

The Lady Diggers beat Hartshorne on Thursday, 5-2. Their score for Monday’s game against Eufaula hadn’t been reported as of Tuesday morning, and they next play at Atoka on Thursday.

Wilburton football hosts Quinton on Friday.
