Prayer rally at the courthouse set for Oct. 14

McALESTER — The second annual See You on the Steps Patriotic and Prayer Rally is set for Oct 14 at 6:30 p.m. on the steps of the Pittsburg County Courthouse.

“We want everyone to come out and join us,” said Joe Watkins organizer of the event.

He said last year more the 150 people came out to the rally and he said he hopes even more will come this year.

Watkins said the event is a non-partisan, nondenominational prayer rally “honoring God and the United States of America.”

“We started this in support of the “See You at the Pole” prayer gatherings the children have at the local schools in September,” Watkins said.

“As adults we want to show our young people that we support them.”

He said during the rally the group will recite the Pledge of Allegiance, sing the National Anthem and God Bless America as well as a few hymns such as Amazing Grace and the Lord’s Prayer.

“This is about God and the United States,” Watkins said.

“We wont be recognizing any politicians but we will be recognizing our veterans who served our country.”

The courthouse is at 122 E. Carl Albert Pkwy.
