Kiowa got two runs back in the top of the sixth, with Foris and Rylee Smith both hitting RBI singles. But Megan Jernigen and Wilson singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth, Clark drew a walk, then Curlee hit a two-RBI single to left for a 15-8 lead.
“My pitch, I like ones that are almost a change-up in fastpitch, (that) come straight down the middle,” Curlee said. She finished 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and a run scored.
Kiowa starting pitcher Elizabeth Mitchell struck out Key for the first out of the inning, but Cierra Chapman beat out an infield single.
Mitchell got Garvin to ground into a fielder’s choice at home, but Mitchell walked Kylie Jernigen with the bases loaded, scoring Clark and invoking the run-rule.
Though a two-RBI shot from Elizabeth Mitchell gave Kiowa a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Stuart answered with a seven-run inning in the bottom of the first. Cierra Chapman tripled to lead off the game, then pinch-runner Celsey Curlee scored on Garvin’s single into the outfield.
Kylie Jernigen reached on an infield single, then Beck’s single to left scored Garvin and tied the game.
Megan Jernigen later drove in another run with a single down the first base line, then a run scored when second baseman Bailey Williams’ throw to second went into the outfield. The Lady Hornets eventually loaded the bases, then Key singled to right to drive in a run.
The Cowgirls got the ball back to Elizabeth Mitchell, but she tried to throw to seoncd to pick off Clark. Instead, the ball went into the outfield, and two more runs scored on the error.
Kiowa got four runs back in the top of the second, with Rylee Smith, Elizabeth Mitchell and Williams all driving in runs. But down 7-6 with two runners on and two outs in the top of the third, Key got Slawson to pop out harmlessly at first.
