Midweek Update: Some sports halt for Spring Break

McALESTER — While most local teams will get this week off due to Spring Break, here’s a look back at the previous week, as reported to


The Cougars lost 12-6 to Quinton on Thursday, then saw their three-way series against Quinton and Weleetka get rained out Saturday. Canadian played Webbers Falls on Monday, but no score was reported.

Canadian’s baseball season continues Monday with the Pitt 8 Tournament.

The Lady Cougars lost both games last week to fall to 0-4 for the season. They lost 16-0 to Stuart on March 11 and 13-1 to Pittsburg on Thursday.

The Lady Cougars next play Monday at Midway.


The Demons beat Wilburton 8-0 on Thursday, then lost 10-4 to Stigler on Friday. Saturday’s game against Oktaha was rained out.

The Demons played Panama on Monday and next play Wednesday at Pocola, where they’ll face Seminole and Stilwell.

The Demonettes beat Panola 15-0 on March 11 but then lost 13-8 to Clayton on Thursday. Calvin had to forfeit Monday’s game, so the Demonettes next play Haileyville and Pittsburg on Tuesday.


The Warriors lost 16-4 to Savanna on March 11, then lost 12-1 to Indianola on Friday. The Warriors next play in the Pitt 8 Tournament on Monday.

The Lady Warriors’ slowpitch softball season starts Tuesday against Crowder and Pittsburg.


The Miners will take a four-game winning streak into Thursday’s game against Oktaha. They beat Crowder 8-1 on March 11, Coalgate 5-0 and Valliant 18-8 on Thursday and Cameron 7-1 on Friday.

The Lady Miners swept Thursday’s three-way series, beating Antlers 15-6 and Buffalo Valley 4-1. But they got swept in Friday’s three-way, losing 8-7 to Eagletown and 3-2 to Calera.

The Lady Miners next play Tuesday against Talihina and Heavener.


The Warriors lost 11-1 to Savanna on Thursday, then got their first win of the season Friday by beating Haileyville 12-1. They next play Monday in the Pitt 8 Tournament.
