Districts have been set by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association for the approaching high school basketball playoffs in classes B through 4A, which includes several area schools.
In Class B girls action at Coleman, the Pittsburg Lady Panthers have a first-round bye and play the winner of Coleman vs. Wapanucka at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Both the winner and the runner-up in that game will advance to regional playoff action next week. On the Class B boys side, the Panthers play Wapanucka at Coleman on Friday at 8 p.m.
There will be Class A playoff action at Kiowa this week. The host Cowgirls have a bye and will play the Boswell-Keota winner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Both the winner and runner-up in that game go on to the regionals. Kiowa’s Cowboys play Keota Friday at 8 p.m., also at Kiowa.
Class A girls action for the Indianola Warriorettes have them playing Wetumka on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Stonewall. Indianola’s boys will have Class A district playoff action Friday at Stonewall against Wetumka at 8 p.m.
Class A action for the Stuart Hornets boys team has them with a bye in the first round. They will play Saturday at 8 p.m. at Webbers Falls against the winner of Webbers Falls vs. Gans. Both the winner and runner-up from that game will advance to regionals. Lady Hornets Class A playoff action for Stuart’s girls begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Webbers Falls at Webbers Falls.
Final brackets had not been released by the OSSAA for classes 2A, 3A and 4A, but they typically begin district playoffs a week after classes A and B.
In 5A and 6A, which begins with regionals and includes McAlester, brackets have not been released. Playoff action will begin Feb. 23 through 25.
