Stuart’s Bowen leaving for Coleman

By Matt Goisman

STUART — It’s been a good run for Randy Bowen. In his six years coaching fall and spring baseball, he’s led the Stuart Hornets to approximately 200 wins, multiple Pitt 8 Conference and Tournament titles, 10 trips to Regionals and a birth in the 2012 state fall baseball tournament.

Sadly, Bowen’s tenure with the Hornets has come to an end. With his hiring confirmed on May 2, Bowen became the varsity and junior high baseball and varsity basketball coach for the Coleman Wildcats.

What ended in Bowen’s departure began with Jim Dominick’s arrival at Coleman. Bowen worked for Dominick at Soper, Bowen’s first coaching job, and Bowen said Dominick became “a really good friend of mine.”

Dominick became the superintendant for Coleman Public Schools on April 25. Even before getting hited, Dominick had already talked to Bowen about joining him in Coleman, and once Dominick officially got the job, Bowen’s decision came pretty quickly.
