KIOWA — When a softball offense scores 22 runs in two games, it’s likely to come away with two wins no matter the pitcher.
When the pitcher matches the offense’s dominance — as Kiowa’s Madi Slawson did Tuesday at the district tournament in Kiowa — victory becomes all but-guaranteed.
Slawson held Stringtown and Pittsburg to just one run between the two teams, combining with an explosive Cowgirls offense to go 2-0 on the first day of the district tournament.
Kiowa will host Pittsburg in the championship Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cowgirl Field. Quaid said beating Pittsburg once already will definitely help his team’s attitude going into the finals.
