McALESTER — Meeker 28, Hartshorne 18
Hartshorne built a 12-7 lead after one quarter, but Meeker responded with 21 unanswered points to win on the road in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs. Meeker’s defense, meanwhile, held Hartshorne to 106 rushing yards.
Meeker got a great game from quarterback Jacob Standlee, who threw two touchdown passes and rushed for over 160 yards. His 74-yard touchdown pass to Dallas Jackson put the Bulldogs up 7-0, and his 10-yard toss to Cameron Smith made it 21-12.
Elmore City-Pernell 26, Savanna 7
Christian Preston’s second-quarter touchdown run put Savanna up 7-6, but the Bulldogs just had no answer to the bigger, stronger, faster Elmore City-Pernell Badgers. The Badgers dominated the Bulldogs to pull off the road victory in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
“That team we played, I guess that district over there is just a tough district,” Savanna coach James Bond said. “They won it. We didn’t lose that game.”
