McALESTER — Both the Memorial Chargers and McAlester Buffaloes ran the ball effectively Friday night at Hook Eales Stadium. But when the Chargers tried to throw the ball, plays rarely went their way, as drops, overthrows and good defense kept them from advancing the ball through the air.
When the Buffaloes had to throw, however, their receivers made every play they had to.
Mason Bumphus and Cade Harkins both out-jumped defenders in the end zone for touchdown passes from Caden Pratt, Jarome Smith rushed for two touchdowns, and Pratt and Devin Rolan added one more rushing touchdown apiece. The Buffaloes beat the Chargers on Senior Night, 45-28, to clinch second place in District 5A-3.
McAlester will host Collinsville in the first round of the playoffs next Friday at Hook Eales Stadium.
