KINGSTON — As a team, the Paris Junior College Dragons of Paris, Texas, placed fifth at Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Texoma Championship at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club in Kingston, Okla. But as an individual, Paris sophomore and Quinton High School graduate Justin Ary shot a hole-in-one of the fifth hole of the second round, hitting an eagle on a par-three, 185-yard course.
“I was so pumped and excited,” Ary said Tuesday. “So excited, because that was my first one.”
Ary said the fifth hole featured a green with a sand trap in front and a mound rising behind it. He said that most golfers used the mound as a back stop, hitting it and letting the ball roll back onto the green for an easy putt.
“I hit it over the green,” Ary said. “It hit the mound and rolled back about 20 feet. I hit it a little farther than I wanted to, but it ended up working out.”
