McALESTER — By his own admission, McAlester junior Donald Cannon didn’t wrestle how he wanted to in Saturday’s 120-pound championship match at the 5A state tournament in Oklahoma City. He couldn’t get a takedown early against Collinsville’s Jacob Findley, and he couldn’t build the lead he wanted.
Forced to change up his style, Cannon proved he’s still among the best wrestlers in the state.
Cannon pinned Findley 42 seconds into the first overtime period, giving McAlester its first state wrestling championship since Garrett Johnston in 1999.
