OKLAHOMA CITY — McAlester’s six state qualifiers combined for 15 points, leading the Buffs to a disappointing fifth-place finish and no individual championships Saturday at the 5A Boys’ High School State Tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
Chance Sistrunk had the best finish for McAlester, losing to Booker T. Washington's Cole Inhofe in the two-singles championship. Ngoc Nguyen lost his first match to a 5A opponent this season in the semifinals, losing to Heritage Hall's Nick Harvey, then lost in the third-place match to Metro Christian's Jackson Fine to finish fourth.
Buffs two-doubles pair Zach Dugan and Eric Borengasser won their first two matches Saturdy but finished the day with a two-set loss to Bixby in the fifth-place game.
One-doubles pair Sam DeNike and Taeam Kang lost their first two matches Friday, ending their postseason.
