PJ Johnson Competes

McALESTER —  

Ten weeks of strenuous workouts and a strict diet took, Figure Competitior, PJ Johnson, right, to the big stage of Oklahoma's biggest show yet, the Grand Prix National Qualifier in Oklahoma City on Nov 3. Local Body-builder and second place winner of the 2012 NPC Competition in June, Kevin Wilson, Pictured left, helped train Johnson for this event. Johnson, 26, is the business owner of X-treme 10 Nutrition & Fit Club in McAlester. Every day she works with people coaching them towards achieving their fitness and health goals and always pushing them to go for their level 10.  Johnson, wanting to set an example, worked towards acheiving her level 10 by competiting in the Grand Prix. Although she placed 7th in her class she says "More than anything I did this for myself and to show how with hard work, determinaion, peserverance and God anything is possible!" Johnson says that her biggest challenges was fitting a workout in her already busy schedule as a business owner and single parent, but "will there is a will there is a way" was her answer to getting through. A 2004 graduate from Atoka High School and degree in Exercise Science from ECU,  Johnson came to McAlester with a vision to get people more active and healthy. Johnson has most definitly attracted more attention to her business through this competition and is excited to start helping the McAlester Community and everyone else make life changes. This was her first contest and when asked if she will compete again. "Had you asked me this question the week prior to the competition or the day after I would have said "No", however, after letting it all sink in, I have realized that I have found a new hobby! I joined up with Team PhysiqueFX out of Tulsa and plan to compete again in 2013." The one thing that got me through this whole training, prepping, dieting and the competiton was God, so I have to give my praise to Him and also a huge Thank you to my family and the many many peolpe of McAlester that supported me through this journey. Encouragement and support is a huge part of any goal your trying to reach. Johnson has most definitly attracted more attention to her business through this competition and is excited to continue helping the McAlester Community and everyone else make life changes to better thier overall wellness.     The Hartshorne Lady Miners sent eight to the plate in the bottom of the third inning, scoring six runs to come back and beat the Kiowa Cowgirls 7-5 in Thursday’s summer league game at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex in McAlester.

    Megan Jernigen’s two-run inside-the-park home run gave the Stuart Lady Hornets the only lead they’d need, eventually beating the McAlester Lady Buffaloes 3-1 Thursday at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex in McAlester.

    Local disc golfer Matt House shot a five-over 197 for the first three rounds, missed the cut for the finals and finished tied for 84th in the Professional Disc Golf Association’s European Masters tournament July 17-20 in Stockholm, Sweden.

    Rain has been an ongoing issue for softball leagues this summer, but Pittsburg County Softball Complex director Randy Norman and his crew have done everything they can to drain the fields and hold games four nights a week.
