Even with limited practice opportunities, the Buffs and Lady Buffs still qualified nine to the 5A State Track & Field Championship, which starts Friday morning at Yukon.
Lady Buffs junior Casey Jones led her team, qualifying for State in the 100 meter hurdles, 300 hurdles and 4x400 meter relay. Jones won both the 100 and 300 hurdles at Regionals on Saturday in Tahlequah, finishing in 15.9 and 47.98 seconds, respectively.
From the Buffs, no one qualified in three events, but two qualified in two. Zach Skimbo jumped 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump at Regionals, then raced on the 4x400 meter relay team that finished fourth and got in as an additional qualifier.
Quinton senior Tysin Davis, meanwhile, ended his track career in style, taking home his second state high jump title in a row Saturday at the 2A State Track & Field Championship at Carl Albert in Oklahoma City. Davis jumped 6-6 to win it all.
