Buffs baseball swept at Regionals

CLAREMORE — McAlester pitchers Wyatt Beshears and Dalton Wood gave the Buffaloes two quality starts on the mound. But between just a couple too many errors and an inability to manufacture runs, the Buffs couldn’t quite turn either of those starts into wins.

McAlester lost both of its round-robin regional games Friday at Legendary Legion Field in Claremore, exiting the postseason after just two games. McAlester lost 3-0 to Skiatook in the first game, then 2-1 to Claremore in the second.

With the losses, McAlester finished its season 22-12.

Friday’s losses meant the end for seniors Beshears, Nick Clark, Jonathan Barickman, Troy Meadows, Chad Aldridge and Kyle McDonald. Buffs coach Jackie Cumbie called the seniors “good, solid citizens that have worked at it, that have played well together and are just a joy to be around.”
