Midweek Update: Baseball season winding down

McALESTER — Catching up on the last nine days of local sports.

The Cougars have gone 2-3 since April 7 and were 7-8 overall before Thursday’s game against Wilson Henryetta. Canadian lost 16-1 to Crowder on April 10, then lost its April 11 double header against Panola, 12-4 and 9-8.

Two weekend games were rained out, then Canadian beat Indianola on Tuesday, 15-5. Canadian next plays Saturday at Webbers Falls.

The Lady Cougars lost 9-1 to Haileyville on April 10 and 13-0 to Kiowa on Tuesday to fall to 0-8.

Canadian played Eufaula on Thursday and next plays this Thursday at Districts.


The Demons lost 11-6 to Heavener on April 8, then won their next three games to improve to 11-10. Crowder beat Canadian 16-1 on April 10, beat Savanna 9-1 on April 11 and beat Haileyville 13-0 on Tuesday.

The Demons played Indianola on Thursday and play Stuart and Kiowa on Friday.

The Demonettes have gone 2-1 in their last three games, improving to 11-9 and earning the No. 14 ranking in Class 3A. Crowder beat Panola 7-1 on April 8, lost 13-0 to Caney on April 10 and beat Calvin 7-0 on Monday.

Crowder played Hartshorne on Thursday and next plays Wilburton and Heavener on Tuesday.


The Warriors lost 12-0 to Kiowa on April 10 and 13-0 to Crowder on Tuesday. A lack of submitted scores has them officially at 0-7, but they’ve played at least 14 games this season.

The Warriors play Crowder on Friday and play Stuart and Canadian on Monday.

The Lady Warriors lost 14-1 to Stuart on April 8 but beat Canadian 9-1 on April 10. No score was reported for Monday’s game against Kiowa.

Haileyville next plays Monday against Indianola.


The Miners beat Wilburton 10-2 on April 8, then finished second at their Coal Mining Classic. They beat Heavener 3-2 on Thursday and Eufaula 11-0 on Friday before falling to Silo — the No. 1 team in Class 2A — 10-2 in the championship Saturday.

Hartshorne also lost 10-2 to Silo on Monday but beat Antlers 17-4 on Tuesday to improve 18-6. The 11th-ranked Miners played Pocola on Thursday and next play Wister on Monday.
