Midweek Update: Buffs tennis in Ada and Bartlesville

McALESTER — This past week saw baseball tournaments in Stuart and Wetumka, softball tournaments in Crowder and McAlester and tennis tournaments in Ada and Bartlesville.

Canadian:

The Cougars went 1-2 last week, starting with a 17-5 loss to Savanna on April 1. Canadian beat Calvin 15-12 on Thursday, then lost 8-7 to Sasakwa in Friday’s Calvin Tournament championship.

Monday’s baseball game against Wetumka was postponed to Saturday due to rain. Canadian next plays Thursday against Crowder.

The Lady Cougars went 0-2 in the Pitt 8 Tournament on April 1, losing 10-0 to Kiowa in the first round 10-0 to Indianola in the consolation semifinals. They also went 0-2 at the Crowder Tournament, losing 12-2 to Crowder and 11-3 to Indianola on Friday.

Monday’s game against Leflore was postponed due to rain. Canadian next plays Haileyville on Thursday.

Crowder:

The Demons finished fourth at the Stuart Spring Baseball Tournament. They beat Moss 5-3 on Thursday, lost to Hartshorne 13-7 in Friday’s semifinals and lost 6-0 to Stuart in Saturday’s third-place game.

Monday’s game against Kiowa was postponed due to rain. Crowder played Heavener on Tuesday and next plays at Canadian on Thursday.

The Demonettes went 1-2 at the Pitt 8 Tournament and finished fourth. They beat Indianola 9-7 in the first round, then lost 9-1 to Kiowa in the semifinals and 6-4 to Haileyville in the third-place game.

The Demonettes finished second in their Crowder Invitational. They beat Canadian 12-2, beat Haileyville 14-0 in the semifinals and then lost 12-2 to Caney in the championship Friday.

Monday’s game against Clayton was postponed due to rain. Crowder played Panola on Tuesday and next plays Caney on Thursday.

Haileyville:

The Warriors lost their only game last week, falling 9-1 to Sasakwa in the first round of the Calvin Invitational Tournament on Thursday. They next play Kiowa on Thursday.

The Lady Warriors finished third in the Pitt 8 Tournament. They beat Pittsburg 11-8 in the first round, lost 11-3 to Stuart in the semifinals but beat Crowder 6-4 in the third-place game.
