Those losses dropped both Krebs teams to the consolation bracket. The Eagles played Hodgen and the Lady Eagles played Liberty in the consolation semifinals on Thursday in Liberty.
The girls’ and boys’ area consolation finals will take place at 1 and 2 p.m., respectively, at Liberty on Saturday. Saturday’s winners will advance to the Division II state tournament.
The Tannehill Lady Braves are still alive in the Division III Area III tournament, but the Braves lost 36-35 to Swink on Feb. 8 and were eliminated. The Lady Braves beat Swink 24-12 on Feb. 8, but they lost to Grant 26-2 in Monday’s semifinal and dropped to the consolation bracket.
Tannehill plays Belfonte in the area consolation semis tonight at 5 p.m. at Frink-Chambers. The winner advances to the consolation championship Saturday at 2 p.m. at Frink, where it will play either Grant or Monroe for a ticket to the state tournament.
In Division IV, the Haywood Bombers played Forest Grove in the Area II championship on Thursday. A win meant a trip to state, while a loss meant an area consolation final against either Nashoba or Albion today at 12 p.m. at Nashoba.
Haywood received a bye into the semifinals, where it beat Albion 44-36 on Monday.
The Lady Bombers also received a buy into the semifinals, but they lost to Albion 31-27. Haywood played Forest Grove in the consolation semis on Thursday, the winner of which plays either Albion or Glover in the consolation championship Saturday at 1 p.m. at Nashoba.
The ORES state tournaments start Thursday and continue through Feb. 22. Shawnee High School will host the Division I tournament, St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee will host Division II; Seminole State College in Seminole will host Division III and Shawnee Middle School will host Division IV.
All state championship games will be played Feb. 22 at Shawnee High School.
