McALESTER — It’s difficult to watch Addison Brown, the approximately 6-foot-6 McAlester senior, and imagine a young boy just learning the game. But every golfer, no matter his or her stature, had to start somewhere.
Brown started as a 7-year-old going to golf camps with future teammates Drew House, Michael Million and Brown’s younger brother Dexter.
“We were members here at the (McAlester Country) Club, and had golf camps, and we just came up here and had fun,” Brown said Wednesday.
Growing up in McAlester, Brown went to Lakewood Christian through the fourth grade, then transferred to the McAlester Public School system. Brown made the MHS varsity golf team as a sophomore.
