OKLAHOMA CITY — Bottom of the ninth. Bases loaded. Two outs, full count. Every young ballplayer dreams of that exact situation, of coming through with the game-winning hit.

For Wayne High School pitcher Michal Hylton, reality proved far sweeter than anything she’d ever dreamed of.

Hylton beat out an infield single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth at Saturday’s 2A softball state championship at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, handing her Lady Bulldogs a 6-5 extra-innings victory over Savanna. Wayne won its first softball state title since 1955, according to coach Scott Brewer.
