Midweek Update: Hornets undefeated in Pitt 8

McALESTER — Local smaller schools will begin their district baseball and softball tournaments this week. Find out how they wrapped up their regular seasons below.

All scores reported are according to OSSAARankings.com.

Canadian:

The Cougars beat Wilson-Henryetta 13-1 on Thursday but lost 12-5 to Webbers Falls on Saturday. Canadian had been scheduled to play Stuart and Haileyville on Monday, but those games were rescheduled to Tuesday due to rain.

Canadian next plays at Allen at Districts on Thursday.

No score was reported for the Lady Cougars’ game against Eufaula on Thursday. They next play at Depew at Districts on Thursday.

Canadian’s boys’ golf team will be at Idabel for regional qualifiers Monday.

Crowder:

The Demons beat Indianola 12-2 on Thursday, but Stuart and Kiowa swept them Friday, 7-1 and 2-0 respectively. Monday’s game against Coalgate was rained out, and Crowder next plays Thursday at home against McAlester’s junior varsity.

The 14th-ranked Demonettes lost 12-0 to Hartshorne on Thursday, then Monday’s games against Wilburton and Heavener were rained out.

Crowder will host Quinton and Keota at Districts on Thursday.

Haileyville:

Monday’s baseball games against Stuart and Canadian were postponed to Tuesday due to rain. The Warriors next play Thursday at Allen at Districts.

Monday’s softball games against Pittsburg and Indianola also couldn’t be played due to rain. The Lady Warriors next play Thursday at Soper at Districts.

Haileyville’s girls’ golf team was in Atoka on Tuesday for regional qualifiers. Its boys team will do the same Monday in Idabel.

Hartshorne:

The Miners beat Pocola 4-0 on Thursday, then Monday’s game against Wister was rained out. The 11th-ranked Miners played McAlester’s JV team Tuesday and next play Henryetta on Thursday.

The Lady Miners lost 11-1 to Stigler on April 15, but they rebounded quickly and beat Crowder 12-0 on Thursday. Monday’s games against Kiowa and Silo were rained out, then Hartshorne played Stuart on Tuesday.

Hartshorne next plays Thursday at home, when the Lady Miners will host Konawa and Talihina in a district tournament.

Indianola:

The Warriors lost 12-2 to Crowder on Thursday, then Monday’s game against Calvin was rained out. Indianola played Clayton on Tuesday and next plays Thursday at home against Kinta and Butner at Districts.

No Warriorettes scores were reported last week. They played Braggs and Cave Springs on Tuesday and next play Thursday at home against Moss at Districts.

Kiowa:

The Cowboys swept an April 15 double header against Wapanucka, 13-0 and 13-1, then beat Stringtown 13-12 on Thursday. They split Friday’s three-way with Stuart and Crowder, losing 15-0 to Stuart but beating Crowder 2-0, then lost 9-6 to Varnum on Monday.

Kiowa next plays Thursday at home against Soper and Stonewall at Districts.

The Cowgirls lost 13-12 to Quinton on Thursday, then saw Monday’s three-way with Silo and Hartshorne rained out. They played Atoka on Tuesday and next play Thursday at Soper at Districts.

Addy Clift led Kiowa’s small track squad, winning two events at the Clark Bass Invitational track meet in McAlester.

McAlester:

The Buffs went 1-1 against district opponent Pryor, beating the Tigers 5-4 on Thursday but losing 12-5 on Friday. McAlester couldn’t play Shawnee at home on Monday due to rain, played Shawnee on the road Tuesday and will play four games at the McAlester Shootout this weekend.

Jr. Buffs baseball wrapped its season with three wins and a championship at the Wilburton Middle School Hardball Classic on Saturday.

In soccer, both the Buffs and Lady Buffs lost 10-0 to Cascia Hall on Thursday. They wrapped up their season Tuesday night at home against Tulsa-East Central.

McAlester’s tennis teams will be at Ardmore this weekend, the boys competing Friday and the girls competing Saturday. The Buffs and Lady Buffs swept the McAlester Burn Out tournament on Friday, but Monday’s triad was rained out.

In track, McAlester won seven of 34 total events at its Clark Bass Invitational meet Thursday at Hook Eales Stadium in McAlester. A junior high meet took place Monday at Hook Eales, and the varsity next competes Friday in Coweta.

Buffs golf was at Fountain Head in Eufaula for the Hilldale Invitation last Thursday and next competes this Thursday at the Bomber Invitational at John Conrad in Midwest City. Lady Buffs golf was in Sapulpa on April 16 and will host Regionals at the McAlester Country Club on Tuesday.

Pittsburg:

The Lady Panthers lost 13-1 to Pittsburg on Thursday, and no score was reported for Friday’s game against Haileyville. The Lady Panthers next play Thursday at Bennington at Districts.

Pittsburg’s girls’ golf team was in Atoka on Tuesday for regional qualifiers. Its boys’ team will do the same Monday at Idabel.

Quinton:

The Savages lost 12-4 to Quinton on Thursday, then wrapped their regular season Tuesday at Pocola. They next play Thursday at Preston at Districts.

The Lady Savages beat Kiowa 13-12 on Thursday, but Monday’s game against Cameron was rained out. Quinton played Talihina on Tuesday and next plays Thursday at Crowder at Districts.

Quinton’s track teams were at Checotah on Friday and next compete Thursday at Inola.

Quinton’s girls’ golf team was at Atoka on Tuesday for regional qualifiers. Its boys’ team will compete Monday at Idabel.

Savanna:

The Bulldogs lost 14-3 to Stuart on Thursday and 8-0 to Allen on Friday. They played Atoka on Tuesday and next play at Talihina on Thursday.

Savanna’s track teams won two events at the Clark Bass Invitational meet Thursday in McAlester. They were in Checotah on Friday and next compete Friday at Konawa.

Savanna’s girls’ golf team was at Atoka on Tuesday for regional qualifiers. Its boys’ team will compete Monday at Idabel.

Stuart:

The 13th-ranked Hornets beat Savanna 14-3 on Thursday, then swept Kiowa and Crowder on Friday, 15-0 and 7-1 respectively, to improve to 5-0 in Pitt 8 Conference games. The Hornets played Canadian and Haileyville on Tuesday, with two more wins guaranteeing a Pitt 8 Conference title.

Stuart next plays Thursday at home against Stringtown at Districts.

The eighth-ranked Lady Hornets beat Pittsburg 13-1 and Weleetka 7-6 on Thursday, then played Hartshorne on Tuesday. They next play Monday against Tupelo.

Wilburton:

The Diggers’ game against Heavener on Tuesday was canceled. They next play Thursday against Eufaula.

No softball scores were reported last week, and Monday’s game against Crowder was rained out. The Lady Diggers next play Thursday or Friday at home against Silo and Panama at Districts.
