CHECOTAH — The Tannehill quartet of Kenzie Ezekiel, Ashley Taylor, Cianna Titsworth and Kristen Perry knocked 13 additional seconds off their 4x400 meter relay qualifying time, winning the event and clinching the small-school division of the Organization of Rural Elementary Schools State Track Meet on Saturday at Ogle Field in Checotah.
Tannehill took control of the race in its second leg, with Taylor taking the baton from Ezekiel and quickly distancing herself from the other runners. By the time Perry took the baton from Titsworth and ran the anchor leg, the race had long since been decided, and Tannehill finished in 4 minutes, 43.96 seconds.
The Frink-Chambers Lady Falcons competed in the large-school division of the ORES state meet, finishing seventh with 22.50 points. Morgan Loud had the best single performance of any Lady Falcon on Saturday, throwing 32 feet and 3.5 inches and finishing second in the shot put.
The only state qualifier from Krebs, Prarrie Rice finished 14th in the girls’ 400 meter with a time of 1:14.44.
