Canadian’s softball season has finally gotten underway, but so far all the Lady Cougars’ games have resulted in double-digit losses. Canadian lost to Indianola on Aug. 27, 20-3, then again to Indianola in the Pitt 8 Tournament on Thursday, 15-0.
Canadian also lost to Kiowa in the Pitt 8, 16-1, then forfeited Friday’s game to Savanna. Canadian played Stuart and Kiowa on Tuesday, losing both games, 12-0 and 12-1 respectively.
The Demons beat the Pittsburg Panthers on Aug. 27, 13-0. That kicked off a strong week in which the team went 3-1, saw its record improve to above .500 and earned a top-20 ranking in Class A baseball.
Crowder faced both Cameron and Okay in a three-way series Thursday, beating top-20 team Cameron, 4-1, and Okay, 10-0. Crowder lost to Stuart on Friday, 5-3, then played Kiowa on Tuesday before heading to Okay on Thursday.
The Demonettes went 1-2 at the Pitt 8 Tournament on Thursday. They beat Haileyville, 18-2, but then lost 14-2 to eventual champions Savanna and 14-1 to Kiowa in the third-place game.
Crowder lost to Wilburton on Saturday, 14-0, and to Tushka on Tuesday, 20-11. The Demonettes take a 5-11 record into Monday’s game against Stuart.
Haileyville went 1-2 at the Pitt 8, falling to Crowder, 18-2, but beating Pittsburg to reach the consolation final, where it lost to Indianola, 7-4. That stretched the Lady Warriors’ losing streak to five games heading into Friday’s game against Kiowa, for which no score was reported.
The Lady Warriors play Kiowa on Thursday.
The Lady Miners have lost their last two games, falling to 2-6 overall. Hartshorne lost to Coalgate on Aug. 27, 3-2, and to Pocola on Tuesday, 8-0.
The Lady Miners host Wister on Monday.
The Warriorettes got their first win of the season on Aug. 27, when they beat Canadian, 15-0. That began a 5-1 week that continued at the Pitt 8 on Thursday, where the team finished fifth.
Indianola recovered from a 13-0 loss to Stuart in the Pitt 8 preliminary round, beating Canadian in the consolation semifinals, 15-0, and then Haileyville in the consolation finals, 7-4.
The Warriorettes also beat Schulter on Friday, 11-1, and Calvin on Tuesday, 13-7.
Indianola’s baseball team hasn’t played since its 18-0 loss to Panola on Aug. 26.
The Cowboys beat Clayton on Aug. 27, 7-4, but scores from their Thursday game against Stringtown and Tuesday game against Crowder have not yet been reported.
The Cowgirls lost to Stonewall on Aug. 27, 8-3, then went 2-1 at Thursday’s Pitt 8 Tournament. Kiowa beat Canadian in the first round, 16-1, lost to Stuart in the semifinals, 9-3, then beat Crowder in the third-place game, 14-1.
The Cowgirls lost to Stuart on Tuesday, 7-4, but beat Canadian, 12-1.
McAlester softball has picked up three big district wins in the last week. The Lady Buffaloes beat Durant on Aug. 27, 9-7, then swept a doubleheader against Guthrie on Tuesday, 9-8 and 7-6.
In between those district wins, the Lady Buffs went 1-2 at the Shawnee Tournament. They beat Pryor, 2-1, but lost to Claremore, 6-3, and Coweta, 5-4.
The Lady Buffs next play four district games in a row, starting with a doubleheader at Tulsa Memorial on Saturday.
Lady Buffs volleyball, meanwhile, picked up its second win of the season on Thursday, beating Glenpool 3-1. It had lost to Tahlequah Sequoyah on Aug. 27, 3-0, and then lost at Wagoner on Tuesday, 3-0.
The Panthers have yet to win a game this season, losing to Crowder on Aug. 27, 13-0, and to Braggs on Thursday, 8-3.
The Lady Panthers lost 12-0 to Savanna on Tuesday, then lost both of their games at the Pitt 8, including a 12-0 loss against Savanna in the opening round. No scores were reported for Saturday’s game at Kiowa or Tuesday’s game at Indianola.
The Lady Savages have played five games in the last week but lost all of them, falling to 4-10 overall. In a three-way on Aug. 27, Quinton lost to Eufaula, 5-2, and Weleetka, 6-2.
Quinton also lost both games of Thursday’s three-way, falling to Cameron, 8-5, and Buffalo Valley, 12-1. Quinton lost to Stigler on Tuesday, 7-0, and next plays Panama at home on Monday.
Including a forfeit from Canadian on Friday, Savanna finds itself on a nifty little six-game winning streak. The Lady Bulldogs boast a 13-3 record and second-place ranking heading into Monday’s game at Latta.
The Lady Dawgs started their week by beating Pittsburg on Aug. 27, 12-0. The Lady Dawgs repeated that score in the first round of the Pitt 8 Tournament on Thursday, then beat Crowder, 14-0, and Stuart, 8-0, to win their fourth Pitt 8 Tournament in a row.
Following Canadian’s forfeit, Savanna beat Red Oak — the top team in Class B — 2-1 on Tuesday.
The Hornets were ranked ninth in Class B as of Tuesday, but this past week hasn’t been their best. The team hosted Red Oak and Moss in a three-way on Aug. 27 but lost both games, 8-2 and 12-0, respectively.
The Hornets rebounded to beat Crowder on Friday, 5-3, but lost to Byng on Tuesday, 8-0.
The Lady Hornets picked up a big win against New Lima, the sixth-ranked team in Class B, on Aug. 27, winning 11-6. Stuart then went 2-1 at the Pitt 8 Tournament on Thursday, beating Indianola, 13-0, and Kiowa, 9-3, before falling in the championship to Savanna, 8-0.
Stuart softball also swept a three-way on Tuesday, beating Kiowa, 7-4, and Canadian 12-0. The Lady Hornets were ranked fourth in Class B as of Tuesday.
The Lady Diggers have gone 2-2 since Aug. 27, when they lost to Checotah, 7-1. They beat Spiro on Thursday, 7-0, and Crowder on Friday, 14-0, then lost to Coalgate on Tuesday, 14-10.
