McALESTER — The Frink-Chambers Lady Falcons look to continue the tradition of competitive fast-pitch softball this season, according to team booster Robert Vaughan and Frink coach Kris Mitchell.
Its last season ended after a deep run into the state tournament.
The expectations and goals for this season are to compete at every level, improve with every outing and return to the state tournament with a shot at the Organization of Rural Elementary Schools state championship.
There are four returning starters from last year's team:
• Taryn Howard, first base
• Erin Kelley, second base
• Carlee Eaton, pitcher
• Carly Cox, shortstop.
Surrounding the returning starters are a group of players that bring both speed and power to the lineup.
Sydney Shelton plays third base; outfielders include Maya Vaughan, Lynnsey Davis and Laurynn Chavarria; Emily Smith plays catcher; and Katelyn Faber plays in the outfield and at first base and also pitches.
The Lady Falcons started their season 5-1-1 as of Wednesday. They next play Thursday at Hartshorne, then return home Friday to play Haileyville.
Home games are played at the Frink-Chambers campus.
