McALESTER — Savanna's softball team will play in the 2A state championship on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. at the Ball Fields at Firelake in Shawnee. The Lady Bulldogs beat Tushka in Thursday's quarter-final, 8-3, then beat Drumright in today's semifinal, 3-2.
This will be Savanna's second championship appearance in two years. The Lady Dawgs lost 6-5 to Wayne in the ninth inning of the 2012 state championship.
Also competing this weekend, Stuart's softball team lost 5-1 to Red Oak in today's Class B semifinal. The Lady Hornets beat Caney on Thrusday, 4-3.
Stuart's baseball team lost in Thursday's Class B quarter-final against Leedey, 8-0.
