McALESTER — An Ultimate Frisbee tournament will take place Saturday at the Quinton High School football field. The double-elimination tournament will start at 4 p.m.
It will cost $50 to enter a team, and each team can have up to seven players and must include one female player. Games will be 5-on-5 “minimum,” but the format could switch to 6-on-6 or 7-on-7 depending on numbers.
Proceeds are to go towards various Quinton community projects, including improvements to Ogden Park.
Those interested in playing should arrive by 3:30 p.m. to warm up and give tournament organizer Blake Lynch time to create brackets.
Players without teams should still arrive at 3:30 where they’ll be put on teams needing players.
Ultimate Frisbee, also called Ultimate or Ultimate Disc, combines elements of soccer, football and basketball. Teams score points by completing passes into end zones, with possession changing every time a pass falls incomplete, a defender intercepts a pass, the disc goes out of bounds or a player holding the disc runs out of time before throwing it.
