Weekend Update: Lady Buffs losing streak ends

McALESTER — Five local schools played their district baseball tournaments, and 10 played did the same for softball. Check out how your team did!

The Lady Cougars lost both games of their Sept. 24 district tournament at Kiowa. Canadian fell 15-0 to Kiowa and 12-0 to Allen, finishing their season 1-7.

After getting their first win against Haileyville on Thursday, Canadian’s football team prepares for Gore in Week 5.


Though Crowder baseball lost its first district tournament game, falling 4-1 to host-team Roff on Thursday, it kept its season alive by beating Vanossm, 7-3. But needing to beat Roff twice Friday to get to Regionals, the Demons fell in the championship, 4-0, to end their season at 16-11.

Crowder softball lost twice in a row at Wewoka in Thursday’s district tournament, 7-6 and 12-3. The Demonettes finished the season 7-18.


The Lady Warriors fell twice to host-team Rattan in Wednesday’s district tournament, 19-0 and 18-0. Haileyville softball finished with a 1-13 record.

Coming off Thursday’s loss to Canadian, Haileyville football heads to Savanna for Week 5.


The Lady Miners lost both district tournament games at Wister on Wednesday, falling 4-0 and 11-0 to finish the season with a 10-14 record.

Having beaten Antlers to start district play Friday, Hartshorne football will head to Panama for Week 5.


Despite being the host team, the Warriors lost twice in Thursday’s district baseball tournament. Indianola lost 17-0 to Varnum and 13-5 to Braggs to finish its season 1-7.

The Warriorettes also lost twice in Thursday’s district baseball tournament, falling to host-team Moss, 17-0 and 19-0, to finish 9-17.


Kiowa’s baseball team lost 14-0 at Byng in Thursday’s district tournament, ending its fall season with a 6-12 record.

Kiowa’s softball team hosted a district tournament on Sept. 24 and beat Canadian 15-0, but the Cowgirls fell to Allen 8-5 later that day. Allen beat Kiowa 8-5 again on Thursday to clinch the district.
