HOLDENVILLE — The Moss Lady Pirates turned three third-inning errors by the Kiowa Cowgirls into six runs, run-ruling the Cowgirls in five innings, 9-0, in Thursday's first round of the Moss Invitational Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament in Holdenville.
Moss pitcher Nat Hamilton pitched a five-inning shutout, giving up eight hits and a walk but holding Kiowa hitless with runners in scoring position.
Kiowa lead-off hitter Madi Slawson went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Already up 4-0 in the top of the third, Moss got another run on a fielder's choice that Kiowa third baseman Sayler Hackler dropped, keeping the bases loaded. Cowgirls pitcher Jordan Armstrong came back to retire her next two batters, but a bases-loaded walk scored another run before shortstop Erin Foris overthrew second base for her second error of the inning.
What should've been the final play of the inning instead turned into two more runs and an 8-0 Moss lead.
