McALESTER — Through three starts this season, Haileyville senior left-handed pitcher Ryan Martin has allowed no earned runs. He’s given up just four hits and about eight walks.
He’s struck out 34 hitters in 13 combined innings, meaning he’s averaging better than two K’s per inning.
“I want the K’s,” Martin said Saturday. “Giving up hits and stuff doesn’t mean as much to me as strikeouts. As long I my strikeout number stays high, I’ll be happy.”
With best friend Jed Dutton as his catcher Thursday, he threw a four-inning no-hitter against Indianola, striking out 11 and walking one.
