McALESTER — McAlester senior Loretta Medina leads a pretty active life. She plays volleyball and tennis, sings in the choir at McAlester High School and tutors at the Boys and Girls Club. And she does all this while maintaing a 3.89 grade point average.
Clearly, Medina loves a challenge.
“If you don’t have a challenge, how are you going to be more successful?” Medina said Thursday. “How are you going to achieve something else?”
Though Medina was born in McAlester, she spent first through third grade in Dallas, then spent another year and a half in Monclova, a city of approximately 200,000 (as of a 2010 census) in northern Mexico. Medina said her mother’s family lived in Monclova, and that the year and a half spent there really left an impression on her.
