McALESTER — The Oklahoma Track Coaches Association Meet of Champions took place Tuesday at Yukon High School. The event took the champions and runners-up from the Class A through 6A Track & Field State Championships, plus anywhere from the next best four to nine finishes, and pitted them against each other to decide who is truly the best statewide in each event.

Whoever won the boys’ high jump and girls’ 300 meter hurdles Tuesday, they’ll always wonder if the champions from Pittsburg County were better.

McAlester’s Zach Skimbo won the 5A high jump, and Quinton’s Tysin Davis won the 3A long jump. Buffs coach Richard Carney and Savages coach Chad Gragg confirmed neither champion made the 2.5-hour drive to Yukon.

McAlester’s Casey Jones finished second in the 5A 300 hurdles, but she also didn’t compete in the Meet of Champions. Jones and Skimbo were at Yukon on Friday and Saturday for the 5A state meet, and McAlester's final exams began Wednesday.
