McALESTER — The Atoka Sports Complex will host its first annual Choctaw Nation All-Star Games on Monday at 6 p.m. Eleven local baseball and slowpitch softball players have been selected to participate.
In baseball, McAlester Buffaloes Troy Meadows and Wyatt Beshears made the All-Star Game. In softball, Sayler Hackler from Kiowa and Brianna Wimberly from Stuart made it, as did six Crowder Demonettes.
Those six are: Sierra Romine, Sierra Vasquez, Katie Leak, Kaitlan Cook, Kelsie Roach and Skylar Wood.
Nomination forms were sent out to area coaches, an Atoka Sports Complex press release said, then a coaches committee selected its All-Stars from the nominees. Atoka Sports Complex general manager Curtis Southern said all nominees had to be seniors, in part because underclassmen wanting to play baseball or softball past the end of their season need to get special permission from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.
