McALESTER — All six Lady Buffs varsity tennis players finished high enough at Monday's regional tournament in Bixby to qualify for the Class 5A State Tournament.
The most consistent contributor all season, Lady Buffs one-singles player Krystal Hixson qualified for state with a second-place finish. Despite suffering from mono during her matches, coach Chad Waller said, Hixson beat Pryor in the semifinals before losing in the finals to Ada, the regional champion and one of the favorites to win it all at State.
Precious Crawford finished second in two-singles, also losing to Ada in the finals. Waller said both Crawford and Hixson were three-seeds heading into Regionals, upsetting their opponents in the semifinals.
Loretta Medina and Jennifer Amy finished fourth in one-doubles, losing to Tahlequah and Ada. Parker Tidwell and Sydney Creager rounded out the Lady Buffs lineup, finishing fourth in two-doubles after losses to Pryor and Ada.
