McALESTER — When the Class 2A State Track Meet kicks off Friday at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Quinton and Savanna will be well-represented. Quinton qualified 12 Savages and Lady Savages at Saturday’s regional meet at Luther, while Savanna qualified three Bulldogs.
Quinton senior Tysin Davis won the high jump at Regionals, jumping 6-foot-4. He’ll defend his 2012 state high jump title on Friday, while also competing in the 1600 meter run, the 3200 meter and the 4x800 meter relay.
Freshman Brad Davis, a cousin of Tysin, ran the second-fastest 3200 this season, qualifying for State in that event, the 1600 meter and the 4x800 relay. Jake Pryor, another senior, qualified in pole vault, the 300 meter hurdles and the 4x800.
The Lady Savages’ 4x800 meter relay team also qualified for State. Sophomore relay-runner Courtney Taylor qualified for the 1600 and 3200 meter runs as well.
Sophomores Chassity McClary, Shelby Brennan and Kaycee Turner round out the relay team. Turner also qualified for State in the 300 meter hurdles in the pole vault.
All three Bulldogs to make state did so with third-place finishes at Regionals. Tanner Brown finished third in the discus, Corey Vaughn finished third in the shot put and Chase Wood finished third in the 100 meter.
