KIOWA — Did you hear about the donkey basketball game that took place at Kiowa High School on Saturday?
The players all brayed that their shots went in.
Team Bucking Wild overcame a six-point deficit late in the fourth quarter, then Branton Nichols scored in sudden-death overtime to complete a 14-12 victory over the Jackasstronauts.
The donkey basketball game — the first at Kiowa since 2005, according to superintendent Mike Kellogg — was a fundraiser for Kiowa High School’s junior class. Brian Scrivner, the junior class sponsor, said approximately 485 tickets were sold before the game and at the door, which translated to just over $1,500 raised for future junior class activities.
