McALESTER — Lane Adams, a former baseball and basketball player for the Red Oak Eagles, has been assigned to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the AA affiliate for the Kansas City Royals, according to a March 10 article by MLB.com’s Dick Kaegel.
Adams played for the Naturals in 2013 and was added to the Royals’ 40-man roster in November.
According to stats available at the minor-league baseball section of baseball-reference.com, Adams batted .244 for the Naturals in 2013. The outfielder hit five home runs, scored 30 runs and drove in 26.
Adams led Red Oak to state championships in both baseball and basketball, according to the Royals’ professional blog. He scored 3,251 total points as an Eagles basketball player, the fifth-most in Oklahoma high school history.
Adams turned down a basketball scholarship to sign with the Royals, who drafted him in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB draft.
