McALESTER — Texas starter Aaron Fletcher limited Tennessee to one run on four hits, and Texas’ offense belted out three home runs to run-rule Tennessee in the third-place game of the 2013 Jr. Sunbelt Championship at Mike Deak Field in McAlester, 5-3 in five innings.
Already leading the game 2-1 in the top of the third, Texas leadoff hitter Kaleb Denny beat out an infield single. Tennessee starter Connor Alexander got Jose Rodriguez to fly out to center field, but Tristan Gray crushed Alexander’s second pitch of the at-bat to straight-away center field, putting Texas up 4-1 with the two-run blast.
Tucker Cascadden crushed the first pitch of his at-bat to left-center for a two-run home run that made it 6-1 Texas in the top of the fourth. Cameron Salvaggio added a three-run home run in the top of the fifth.
Fletcher pitched all five innings for Texas, limiting Tennessee to four hits. He hit a batter and struck out a batter, his only real mistake pitch being an RBI single off Fletcher’s glove by Austin Reynolds in the bottom of the second that made it 2-1 Texas.
